Language and Communication Development
The ability to communicate is one of the most important skills that children can develop. Yet for children on the Autism Spectrum, communication development happens differently and at a slower pace. First words are often delayed which causes parents to become concerned.
But no need for concern. Behavioral Health Works understands that ABA is more than just providing therapy, it is equipping families with the tools necessary to help their loved ones obtain a better and more independent life. It is because of this philosophy, Behavioral Health Works has created a YouTube page aimed to assist families affected by autism, including a video on how to improve your child’s language and communication skills.
In this video, Dr. Lisa French, our Regional Clinical Director, speaks to an audience of local parents about the different components of language and communication and provides methods to implement positive communication behavior. She also identifies how children with Autism develop language and communication, in order to help parents better understand why children on the autism spectrum have some difficulty with language communication.
