Scholarship Contest: Siblings O Loved Ones Living With Autism
A Scholarship Contest was designed to help family members who has a loved one diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). An autism diagnosis affects more than just an individual, it impacts the entire family. Siblings of Autism understands this concept and has created an organization based on this philosophy. They are a non-profit registered charity aimed to provide support to siblings of individuals on the autism spectrum through educational scholarships and other programs.
This organization was founded by Jerry Cherry, a sibling to an adopted brother on the autism spectrum and is partnered with one of the top parent groups in the nation, Autism Society of America. Jerry believes that his childhood and who he is today was molded by his brother’s diagnosis. This has led to his compassion for kids on the autism spectrum and their siblings and in addition, to become a voice for all siblings of individuals with autism.
One of his efforts in achieving this goal is through the Siblings of Autism Video Scholarship Contest. Siblings of those living with autism are encouraged to develop a short video that identifies the realities of autism. Winners from this contest will be awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. For more information on this scholarship opportunity or to learn more about Siblings of Autism Click Here.
