BHW Without Borders Reaches India
BHW Without Borders is continuing to expand its global presence through the provision of behavioral health services in underserved and unreached communities. For the next few weeks, we are launching our next phase in India! As the second most populated country in the world, it is characterized as one of the world’s largest industrial nations. But most of the negative characteristics of poor and developing countries define India as well where one of them is their rate of untreated autism cases.
Of the 1.2 billion people in India, it is estimated that approximately 10 million are living with autism. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in every 88 children today is born with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as opposed to one in every 110 children from just a few years ago. With numbers like these along with the lack of behavioral health resources and diagnostic tools for autism, many individuals end up falling through the cracks with no pathway for autism treatment. Situations like this happen more often than we’d like to admit which is why BHW Without Borders was developed with the mission to expand the availability of autism treatment services world-wide.
During this trip, we will be exchanging visionary ideas to identify breakthrough solutions with local school administrators and policy makers that will directly enhance the level of access for people and families affected by autism. We will also be initiating our educational programs that equip local teachers and parents with behavioral management strategies. This is an opportunity for us to join together and give back by sharing the knowledge and resources we have been blessed with.
Please stay posted for photos and news updates! And don’t forget, in May 2016, BHW Without Borders will be in Singapore! So please stay tuned to find out how you can take part in our global movement!
Come journey with us.
